Are you cheating on yourself?
That’s the question I really want you to answer today.
Cheating is defined as acting dishonestly or unfairly about something.
I looked at that definition and thought Wow! How many people are cheating themselves?
Who are you? And, why are you here?
If you don’t know who you are and why you’re here and can’t answer these questions. Then I would venture to say you are cheating yourself and cheating on yourself.
What’s preventing you from pursing who you are?
By not being yourself and by not knowing who you are, you are limiting your potential.
You’re limiting the plans that have already been inscribed for your life.
You’re actually living a life that is very dishonest. Not that you are a dishonest person, but it’s more that you are living an inauthentic life.
The reason that I know this conversation so well is that 13 years ago I was in the very same place.
I’m sharing these thoughts with you from the park where I’ve been enjoying the atmosphere and literally setting up my office here.
Only 13 years ago I was stuck behind a desk in a job I hated, in a relationship that was toxic and my insides were slowly dying.
The funny thing was, I kept showing up for work every day, and let me know if you can identify with this…
You show up and you put on a smile and you put on a uniform or whatever you need to do. You may even have the accoutrements of success – stability, a good job.
But, for you it’s a routine. You know there’s something more. You’re going through the motions.
No-one else knows. No-one knew my pain because it was on the inside. I showed up at work and smiled every day and you may be doing that, too.
But, I had this nagging truth inside of me that said There must be more to life. I kept asking myself and saying to myself You know if this is all there is, working 8-5pm every day, going home preparing meals (because, at that time I was a single Mom), doing homework putting my son to bed and doing that over and over again five days a week.
It got to a place where I hit a wall and realized I could not do it anymore.
I had that day that was ear-marked for me and maybe today is that day for you.
I realized that I couldn’t sit at that desk anymore, wear that uniform, keep smiling and keep pretending to be happy. And, on the inside I know that I’m someone different.
I was cheating on myself.
Now, having been on this purpose quest for the past 13 years having been able to find my purpose, live it and walk in it every day, I have to tell you, Friend – it looks A LOT different.
Life looks a lot different on the other side of purpose.
I want you to have that zeal and that enthusiasm. But, before I leave, I want to leave you with an assignment.
I am giving you the duty of answering those two questions:
- Who are you?
- Why are you here?
Are you WANDERING around or are you WONDERING around?
If your answer is yes, then I have to ask you how much longer are you going to do that?
If you’re not a part of our community, I’d like to invite you into the Divine Purpose community. We have conversations like this, we share and support each other.
If you’re ready to move forward, get some training, get some support and be in a community and a group where everyone is pressing forward to live a life of purpose, peace and prosperity…
I want to invite you to cross over into the beginnings of your dream and live this life of powerful purpose!
Live On Purpose,
