For many of us, the dream to find success on our own terms, be our own boss, and even start our own business seems far off in the distance. Every morning, that dream enters our thoughts and reminds us what we truly want, with a knot in the stomach. And every night as we prepare to go to sleep, we feel defeated that another day has gone by, and we aren’t a step closer to achieving our dreams.
It seems like society tells us from an early age that work is work, you usually don’t like it (let alone love it), and you have to follow a certain path to be successful. Why have we told ourselves that we have to hate our jobs? Why don’t we tell ourselves that there are many paths we can take, we all have different passions, and we can actually love our careers and our lives? Although women have more rights than we ever have, including our role in the workplace, many still don’t feel women are encouraged as strongly to pursue their dreams. Well, ladies, it’s time to stop giving in to all those negative and destructive thoughts and comments. It’s time to start believing in yourselves and seeking the path that accomplishes your individual vision of success.
The truth is, you don’t have to let your thoughts own you, especially negative ones. It is possible to get over the roadblock, even when it feels impossible, and to change your lives. Nicole Robinson, the creator and life coach behind the Divine Purpose School, proves that it’s possible. Read more about her story here, let her teach you how to be a business woman, and start applying the following steps to create the life you’ve always wanted.
How To Become A Successful Business Woman In Five Steps
1. Believe in the Power of Positive Thinking
It may sound like new age hype, but there is real power in positive thinking and setting positive intentions. Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. If you believe you can overcome any obstacle, and you truly feel you can accomplish your dreams, you are one step closer to becoming a business woman.
Here is an example of how positive thinking works: John applied for a “dream” job, but he felt that he wasn’t good enough for it and was expecting to fail. On the day of the interview, he accidently woke up too late, didn’t have time to eat breakfast, and realized his best dress shirt was dirty and wrinkly. During the interview, he was too distracted with his negative thoughts about his morning, as well as the same negative thoughts that he wasn’t going to be hired anyway. He didn’t get the job. On the other hand, Jim applied for the same job but took a different approach. The weeks leading up to the interview, he often visualized himself making a great impression and actually working in the job. The night before the interview, he prepared by setting his clothes aside and went to sleep a little earlier than normal. The morning of the interview, he woke up early, had plenty of time to make breakfast, get dressed, and feel relaxed. He arrived at the interview before the scheduled time and made an excellent impression. Jim got the job.
You really do have the power to create your life. If you dream of a particular job, or you really want to start your own company, feel it and believe it to be possible.
2. Focus Your Goals on What You Really Want
To set yourself on the path to accomplishing your goals and becoming a successful business woman, you need a clear and precise vision of what you want to achieve. Naturally, as humans, we want to do everything. Especially when we are given so many opportunities today. But all those choices can have a negative impact. On any given day, our thoughts may jump from wanting to exercise and lose twenty pounds to learning French to starting that blog to purchasing a course. Picture our brains as a beach ball filled with a ton of buzzing bees. There are hundreds of conflicting impulses pushing us this way and that way. Without focus, each conflicting thought process will keep you from getting anywhere. The beach ball stays right where it is. But if you focus your thoughts and energy on the one dream you really want, all the individual bees become one large bee, and you are focused enough and strong enough to start moving in the right direction. 3. Learn From Every Experience—Good or Bad
This step takes what you practice with positive thinking and takes it a bit further. Consider each experience a learning experience. If something doesn’t exactly go how you wanted it to, don’t allow that to control your view of the experience as a whole. If you allow your negative thoughts to control you, you are likely to take a completely different approach to something if you were to keep a positive outlook and consider it an opportunity to learn. It is easy to take negative situations personally, but that may lead you to halt any further progress towards your goals. The feeling of self-doubt and defeat will be debilitating in the overall picture. Instead, be grateful for the learning experience and simply move on, continuing to plunge forward towards your goals. Nicole Robinson worked in a job she hated before she realized that it wasn’t working for her; it wasn’t a match to her true purpose. She overcame the naysayers, considered each person a learning opportunity, and went on to create multiple six-figure businesses.
4. Be True to Yourself
If you feel in your heart you are meant to do something and be a certain someone, the dedication to pursuing your authentic self is a powerful tool. Do not let anyone tell you what you should and should not be doing. Because, in truth, there is no “should” and “should not,” there is only “do” and “do not.” For example, if you feel it is possible to get out of debt and leave your dead-end job for something you are passionate about, then it is. If you bury your authentic self and beliefs because of the criticism from outside influences, you may never find the courage to leave your job and start that dream business. If Oprah allowed every hardship and negative comment to keep her from moving forward, imagine where she’d be now.
5. Invest in Yourself
Take the course you’ve been dreaming about. Hire the life coach to help you see your true potential and receive the support you need. If you don’t see yourself as a worthy investment, you may never overcome the hurdles in your life. And while you may eventually see success and accomplish your goals, it may take much longer and be much harder than if you would have realized the value of investing in yourself and accepting help from others. If you have an idea for a business, or you simply want to reach your dream position in your current career, the lack of confidence in knowing where to start and lack of support in your personal life may be holding you back. Nicole Robinson has combined her past, rags-to-riches experience with her passion for helping women, and has created an online life coaching course. Robinson offers career advice for women and will create a plan of action tailored to your goals. Invest in yourself and learn how to become a successful business woman.
